Delhi Free Solar Panel Scheme upto 3 kW: Eligibility, Requirements

With the revision of the Solar Policy by the Delhi government, now they implement their new scheme titled the Delhi Free Solar Panel Scheme. Through the help of this scheme government going to provide the facilities of a 3 kW rooftop solar panel at zero cost to eligible families of the state who use up to 400 electricity units in a month. It means that at the time of installation there is no cost has been paid by the government. Government also set a target to cover a total of 2.30 lakh families in the state till March 2027.

Not only this, but the existing electricity subsidies also continue for the consumers, and the surplus solar power is exported to the grid. We all know that this is the new announcement about the scheme, and the government is also going to start its application process for the scheme very soon.

Now, all individual families in Delhi state who having the consumption of the electricity unit per month upto 400, then they are very soon going to get the benefits of 3kw rooftop solar panel installation. They don’t need to pay any installation cost for the same. The same decision has been taken by the Delhi Government after revising the Solar Policy of the state. This scheme is working in combination with the central scheme, i.e. PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. After this scheme is officially implemented in the state, a total of 1.56 lakh in financial aid will be given to eligible families of the state.

Objective of Free Solar Panel Scheme Delhi

The main objective of launching this scheme is to remove the financial barrier to installing a solar panel on the rooftop due to installation cost. So that’s why after revising the solar energy policy of Delhi, the government is going to provide the benefit of zero installation cost for the rooftop solar panel installing. Not only this, but eligible consumers are also eligible to get the existing electricity subsidies.

Eligibility Criteria to get Delhi Free 3kW Rooftop Solar Panel

• All domestic electricity consumers of the state of Delhi.
• They must have electricity unit consumption up to 400 units per month for the 2025-26 financial year.
• Your roof, where you want to install the panel, must be shed-free and have proper sunlight.
• There is no any changes will be made if you are already availing the benefits of 100% power subsidy, i.e. for 200 units; you will still get the same benefits with this solar installation.

Financial and Subsidy Benefits

Total Financial Support	Total Rs.1.56 Lakhs will be given as per the market cost of the 3 kW solar rooftop panel installation by the government with a combination of central government schemes.
Delhi Government subsidy	Delhi Government is going to provide a subsidy of Rs.78,000.
Central Government subsidy amount	Under Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana, the central government provide Rs.78,000 subsidy amount.

Requirements List

Your present electricity bill, which is not too old, showing your electricity consumption up to 400 units per month

Aadhaar Card of the consumer for his/her personal verification and biometric verification

Your Aadhaar Card must also be linked with your active mobile number and bank account number

PAN Card of the applicant is also required to get the subsidy amount

Property ownership proof of the place where you want to install the solar panel, like your house sale agreement, etc.

If you are living in a society, then an NOC from the resident welfare association

What is Delhi Free Solar Panel Scheme Current Status?

So this is the new scheme of the Delhi Government, and this scheme’s frame work also approved in the cabinet meeting. But still, there is no dedicated portal for registration, and the application process has not been started by the government. But very soon, the government formally launched the process for this Solar Panel Zero Cost Scheme to get benefits.

Launch Date

The IPGCL, i.e. Indiraprastha Power Generation Company Limited, is managing the vendor for this scheme, and they managed the same through a competitive bidding process. As soon as they complete the same process, the scheme will officially launch.
