Delhi State Government is expanding its already existing scheme, i.e. Mukhyamantri Khel Protsahan Yojana, with a new monthly stipend of Rs. 2,000, which is known as Grassroots Training Support Assistance. Under this, all the young sportspersons of the state who are getting training at government stadiums and sports centres will get this monthly stipend from the Delhi government.
Delhi Grassroots Training Support Assistance
There is a new big announcement has been made by the government of Delhi, in which they are going to give a monthly stipend of Rs.2K to the young athletes of the state. This scheme was approved by the Delhi Cabinet on 10 September 2026. In this scheme, as stated by the government, all the young athletes trained at Government Stadiums and sports complexes will get this financial assistance.

25% of young athletes who enrol as regular trainees in the eligible sports complex will be covered by the government in the scheme. This means total 100 sports persons will be covered, and it can be enhanced to 150 if the stadium is larger.

This is an existing scheme of Delhi which is launched to empower youth and also promote sports culture. By implementing this scheme, the state government is trying to encourage the youth towards sports. In this scheme, the government not only promotes sports but also provides financial support to athletes at all levels.

Selections Process
In this scheme, financial aid is only given to needy enrolled trainees. So here I am going to discuss the selection process.
- Firs things that, at the time of selection, the government check his/her financial need. So the government gives priority only his/her talent, without any kind of financial trouble.
- Performance: The other things that they determine while making the selection of the candidates is that his skills, growth and sports performance.
- Behaviour: Behaviour like discipline should also be checked during training time. This can be reviewed every 3 months.
